Credit Card Fraud
Credit card fraud is something we would never want in our lives. Some credit card companies do not protect credit card holders against credit card fraud. Credit card fraud encompasses a wide range of illegal activities that occur with your credit card, these include theft fraud, identity theft and skimming. Credit card fraud is committed by using a credit card as a fraudulent source of funds in a transaction that may be used to purchase goods or which someone can obtain unauthorised funds from your credit card account.
Credit Card fraud can start with the theft of the physical card to the compromise of data associated with the account such as the card account number or other information that is made available to a merchant during a legitimate transaction. Due to the fact that people on a daily basis use credit card on the internet to make purchases this increases the global problem of credit card fraud in the financial industry. This has led to the increase in need for companies to spend large amounts of money to develop their database security.
People who lost their credit card or feel that their card was exposed to the risk of other people obtaining their credit card information should report to the credit card company immediately. The credit card company can help you by putting a stop on the card. This means that the card can no longer work. The disadvantage of this though is that your credit card would not be able to work until it is replaced with a new card.
